What are the LEVEL 1 Course pre-requisites?
You need to have practised yoga yourself and be familiar with the basic postures. Once you enrol we will inform you of how best to prepare for the training to get the most out of it and supply training materials so you can be sure you have enough knowledge to be confident in the training. You absolutely DON'T need to be really flexible or a yoga expert!! (although if you are that's ok too). The yoga we teach to kids is physically simple, but delivered age appropriately and creatively.
I am not currently a yoga teacher. Can I do this training?
Yes. This training is open to both people doing it as their first yoga teacher training and to experienced yoga teachers who want specialised training in Kids and Family Yoga.
What are some of the benefits of Yoga for Kids?
We're glad you asked! Check out the video below that Channel 10 filmed with our founder Lindy Pulsford (it's from our Archives, but the benefits of yoga remain the same!!). + More info on benefits here
What are the Steps to become a Certified 50 hours KidsYoga Teacher with us?
Prerequisites
You need to have practised yoga yourself and be familiar with basic poses. We supply pre-training resources to help with this so you can fill any gaps in your yoga knowledge. You absolutely DON'T need to be super flexible or an expert!
The yoga we teach to kids is quite physically simple but delivered super creatively.
1. Complete the LEVEL 1 Training
Level 1 can be done online at your own pace, taking up to 4 weeks, or face to face over a 3 day intensive. Learn all the basics of how to deliver engaging age appropriate yoga classes to kids :-)
2. Between Trainings: Prac. Teaching & Mindfulness Challenge
It's time to put all you have learnt in LEVEL 1 into practice by starting teaching a few informal practice classes. If this is your first teacher training these can be to your kids or friends kids, nieces or nephews or in the classroom if you are an educator. This will give you invaluable hand-on experience heading into LEVEL 2. We also give you a Mindfulness challenge to complete between trainings.
3. Complete the LEVEL 2 Training
Here's where we dive into all the depth & detail you need for your classes.
This is offered Live online as an interactive intensive via two way video. It's followed by 2 weeks to complete the additional follow up tasks. You'll be supported by a private Facebook group and lots of time for corrections, coaching and to answer questions. Level 2 is occasionally also offered as a Face to Face in person intensive.
Once you've submitted your final tasks you'll receive your 50 hour YogaKids Training Academy 50 HR Kids Yoga Teacher Certification from us and be ready to teach amazing Kids Yoga classes! :-)

How much time do I need to allow for the "Between Training Practice Teaching and Course Work"?
The time between LEVEL 1 & LEVEL 2 can vary depending on when the next LEVEL 2 Training is being offered in your city. Ideally you put what you learnt in LEVEL 1 into practice before Level 2. If it's possible this means starting to practice teaching some Kids Yoga classes to your own or friends' kids (or nieces, nephews, grandkids). If you are a School or Kindergarten Teacher you may choose to do your initial practice Kids Yoga teaching classes in your work place. These classes can be to just two kids in your lounge room or they can be to a larger group if you wish!
Note: If you are already an experienced Adults Yoga teacher you may choose to start teaching extensive Kids Yoga classes in the community directly after your LEVEL 1 training. You can then bring this experience - and your questions that arise from your Kids Yoga class teaching experience - into the LEVEL 2 training so you can get clarification and deepening of your teaching as needed. This three-step training process is invaluable for even the most experienced teachers to become exceptional Kids Yoga teachers who can handle all the varied aspects of teaching kids well.
There is no LEVEL 2 happening soon in my city, can I complete it in another city?
Yes, absolutely. Or there could be a Live Online Level 2 on offer that's lots of good interractive fun :-)
I am already an adults Yoga Teacher, can I use this training for CPD?
Yes, if you are already a registered yoga teacher (ie. you have completed an Adults 200-350 hour Yoga Teacher Training) you can use this training towards Continued Professional Development points with Yoga Australia. Please note registration with Yoga Australia is voluntary for yoga teachers.
Do I need to be part of an association to teach yoga? What about for Insurance?
There is no 'governing body' of yoga or kids yoga that yoga teachers must join, however having your training recognised by a Yoga Teaching organisation such as Yoga Alliance International Registry or Yoga Australia is usually needed to gain Professional Indemnity & Public Liability Insurance.
The combination of YOGA KIDS TRAINING ACADEMY's Level 1 & Level 2 training is a 50 hour training that has been accredited by https://www.yogaallianceinternationalregistry.com/ and covers the content suggested by Yoga Australia.
On completion of your Level 1 & 2 training you could be eligible for registration with Yoga Alliance International Registry as a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher. (They have other criteria - see the above question 'What are the steps to register with Yoga Alliance International Registry?')
Will I receive a certificate?
You will receive a certificate on competition of the course. Please note you need to attend the entire course to receive the certificate and must not miss more than 30 minutes of the training.
Do I need to attend all 3 days of the In-Person Trainings?
To receive a certificate at the end of the training you need to attend all 3 days.
Where do your Graduates teach?
Wherever there's a need!
Our graduates can be found teaching kids yoga in lots of situation professionally and privately including;
I have an injury. Will I be able to complete this training?
We have had people complete the course with injuries before and it has not been a problem. The course is a mixture of theory and practical. Any involvement in the practical aspects of the course you can manage around your injury and choose to observe/take notes of a practical exercise if it's not suitable for you. You do need to be confident to take full responsibility for keeping yourself safe and knowing what movements your body can and can't do. Please contact us to discuss if you are not sure.
What are the qualifications and training of the facilitator?
Please see the bio of our principle teacher and director of Yoga Kids Lindy Pulsford
How does this course compare to other kids yoga teaching courses?
Yoga Kids initially developed this course so we could ensure the quality and consistency of the training teachers teaching for Yoga Kids Training Academy had received.
We had found some other kids yoga teacher trainings just focused on 'playing yoga', and didn't equip teachers with sufficient experience and knowledge to deliver kids yoga - particularly in schools.
Our approach embodies a joyful, playful approach, but is also woven in with lots of solid & rigorous content that school teachers and parents expect.
Our experience has shown that kids are capable of quite a lot more regarding yoga than you may expect
Another big point of difference is our training is delivered by the person who wrote the training (Lindy Pulsford) rather than a trainee. Lindy is also trained Mindfulness teacher which informs her approach to teaching kids (& this is particularly valued by schools and parents). Additionally, she is a practicing kids and family yoga teacher & has studied the benefits of yoga and mindfulness with kids at a Masters level & applied it in therapeutic settings etc.
Our training is clearly divided into 12 Modules. The feedback we have had from students (including those who have attended our course & other kids yoga trainings) is that it is a particularly well structured and organised course that packs in a lot of content with a good mix of theory and practice.
Can I join your Graduates Private Facebook Group?
Yes!! Once you have completed YOGAKIDS' Teacher Training you will be invited to join the community. It is a great resource for ongoing support of wonderful kids yoga teachers. Please note, you need to be a graduate of our Teacher Training before you will be invited to join.
What happens if I can't attend?
Life happens! If you can't attend the face to face training, provided you give us sufficient notice your registration will be transferred to the Online Training, so you can complete the training at your own pace online. This offer has some limitations, see Terms & Conditions below.
What are the Terms & Conditions?
We are glad you asked! Please read them carefully. They are firm but very fair & we have a back up for every situation! Please note you have a full 7 days from when you first register to change your mind and receive a refund. After this time no refunds are offered, but if your circumstances change and you can't make the in-person training you can transfer to the Online Training, provided you give us sufficient notice.
